On the night of April 13, 2010, Downtown Liquor and Market on 8th Avenue locked up as usual. At 2:24:24 am this morning perpetrators attempted to break in the building. Upon breaking the glass, Certified Systems’ alarm system was tripped and notified our Central Station. Thanks to our new CSAirLink Radio system the signal was wirelessly transmitted in seconds to our Central Station Dispatch Center.
The Central Station contacted the business owner to notify him of the incident and the police department stated for him not to go near store because the suspect might still be in the store. The owner stayed in his car about a block away.
Chico PD was dispatched at 2:24:55 am, 31 seconds after the alarm was tripped. And at a mere 1 minute and 18 seconds at 2:25:06am, Chico PD arrived and shortly after a K-9 unit was called in to assist. After a thorough 15 minute search of the premises the perpetrators were not found. Abruptly, the K-9 picked up the sent and lead police to bushes across the street where the suspects flushed and fled forcing 6 officers to spring into action. After a short pursuit they arrested the 16 and 17 year old suspects and retrieved all the stolen merchandise.
